The practices of yoga asana, meditation, and dharma study teach us so much. And once we start to get more familiar with each practice and their infinite varieties, we can get more skillful about figuring out which specific practice we need to achieve the results we’re looking for.
Our Sunday Evening Slow Down series can be like medicine for our busy modern lives. It’s perfect for those of us who either love to take it easy or who need a little assistance in doing so. This series offers an array of classes all designed to help us relax our nervous system, enter the new week with calm and clarity, and bring a little more mindfulness into the weekend. Join us at the yoga studio and if you need more convincing, read below.
Here are three reasons we adore this series:
Our Bhagavad Gita Study Group. Say what?! Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of it -- The Bhagavad Gita is an ancient Indian spiritual classic that is basically one long conversation between two characters, Krishna and Arjuna, about everything from yoga to meditation, family disputes, serving others, the nature of reality, and more. These Hindu texts make you think.
On the first Sunday of the month this group, our longest-running dharma class at Sama, reads through verses from the text and discusses them to see how they can be applied to our modern lives.
This class is for you if you love: PHILOSOPHICAL DISCUSSIONS, DHARMA STUDY, BEING SMART, and DEBATING.
RESTORATIVE YOGA. Ever tried it? Restorative Yoga is a special type of yoga class where all the postures are done either seated or lying down. Each shape is held for an extended period of time so that the body can fully relax into it, the mind can begin to settle, and total bliss can arise through this yoga practice.
These classes are designed to be restful and spacious, accompanied with soothing music, readings, aromatherapy, and more. Each class will end in a calming guided meditation.
Slow down your heart rate and chill out on your yoga mat to reap the health benefits.
Restorative Yoga happens on the second, third, and fourth Sundays of the month, and it’s the class for you if you love: NAPS, DE-STRESSING, STRETCHING, and LUXURY.
SOUND BATH. On the third Sunday of each month, your already beautiful Restorative Yoga class gets a special addition: a Sound Bath. A Sound Bath is a serenade of sacred sounds, all performed live for you. This can include crystal bowls, mantra, chimes, harmonium, gong, and more, all to help you access an even deeper meditative state while you rest and restore. Sound healing leaves you refreshed and replenished.
Let’s just put it this way: Sound Bath healing is an experience NOT to be missed. Our students tell us that their sound bath sessions make their day.
This class is for you if you love: BLISSING OUT, MAGIC, HEALING SOUNDS, and BEING TRANSPORTED.
